Turbo Blender

Wednesday, January 25, 2006

I have been lax on posting to the blog, but I have been in computer transition, which has demanded a lot of my time. 2006 is the year I upgrade my equipment since it is at least 5 years old. I have time to bake a cake while my browser is loading pages (mostly due to dial-up connection.)
After much research, and great restraint not to spend a bundle, I made the choice of a laptop-a 12" Powerbook from Apple. It has been 30 years since I used an Apple so it is like learning to drive all over again. It is a sweet machine and I love the size. My main goal was to buy something purely portable after hauling a heavy Dell Inspiron through airports. This baby weighs about 4 lbs.
My next goal is to explore the idea of podcasting using GarageBand 3. I have some ideas for format but still struggling over the hardware issues and what I need to get started. If anyone reads this and has some ideas, please post in comments.
I would also like to mention that the top podcasts on my list are Top of the Pods, Nobody Likes Onions, Lostcasts, and the Official Lost Podcast. Check these shows out if you haven’t already.
A new show I started to listen to is Daily Breakfast (Catholic Insider) which caught my attention because I like the format. I may follow it somewhat in my own podcasts.
Finally finished reading Andersonville, by Mackinlay Kantor. It is a very heavy book, which I recommend, especially if you are into Civil War lit. It is tough to read because the subject matter (southern prison for Yankee POWs) is so tragic. I could only read a chapter or two at a time because it was disturbing. I have the same problem with books dealing with concentration camps during WWII.
